Killead Presbyterian Church

About Us

Our People

Rev. John Murdock is our Minister. John grew up in  Downpatrick where his father was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He taught music in Newtownards for four years followed by seven years as Head of Music in Fivemiletown High School, Co. Tyrone. He was ordained an elder in Cavanaleck Presbyterian Church in 1988 and then felt the call of God into full time service. After three years at Union Theological College (1991-1994) he spent two years as ordained Assistant in Cregagh Presbyterian Church  before being called to minister in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Greyabbey in 1996.  John was called to Killead and Loanends in April 2005. John has also been Clerk of the Templepatrick Presbytery since 2008.  He is married to Anne (a part-time primary school teacher) and they have three children Judith, Iain and Stuart. In what little spare time he has, John likes to keep up his music by singing with the church choirs and playing the organ.

Jennifer Wilson has been appointed as our Youth and Family Worker. After leaving Crumlin High School in 2005 Jenny completed an NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Childcare at Rutldge Joblink, Antrim. From that Jenny got a full time job in Templepatrick Primary as a Classroom and Special Needs Assistant. In 2011 Jenny took a career break to explore the world of Youth Work in a ‘Youth For Christ’ Centre, ‘Blue Houses’ in Ballysillan. Knowing that youth work was the road God had called her on, Jenny started a degree in ‘Youth and Community with Practical Theology’ in September 2012. Having completed her placement in Killead and Loanends Presbyterian Churches, Jenny has been working full time with Oasis Antrim until now. She will continue as leader in charge of our Friday night Youth Club and KLYP.
