Killead Presbyterian Church

Important Information Regarding Services

I would like to update you about what is happening following the NI Executive’s announcement that churches may re-open for worship from 29th June.

The Presbyterian Church in Ireland has issued detailed guidelines which all Kirk Sessions must follow on how we must go about this. Certain measures must be put in place before public worship can recommence. First, the present social distancing guidelines of 2 metres remains in force for churches. This means that we will be very limited in the number of people we could accommodate in either of our meetinghouses.

The Kirk Sessions will be looking at our options, but it will take some time before we can begin to hold services in the churches again. The Templepatrick Presbytery has issued the guidelines which state:

To ensure all precautions are taken, it is advised to consider not implementing public worship services, which are open to all, until September 2020.

In the meantime we plan to continue with the on-line Thought for the Week videos and printed summary, but also to expand the videos to include a short Children’s talk and also involve others, including, we hope, some of our musicians. By the way, I still haven’t received any videos of you doing your favourite bible verse or story to include in the videos!!

I indicated last week that there was a provisional plan to hold a Drive-in Church Service on Sunday 5th July in the Car Park at Loanends Church. Having explored all the practical aspects of this, we believe that this is not a viable option at present.

We will keep you posted on future plans, which, like those of the government, could change quite quickly!
